What Joystick/Gamepad Do You Use For Mame?

I Have A Few Gamepads.I Have 2 Logictechs That Resemble Playstation Joypads and A XBOX 360 Pad.The Logictechs Are ComfortabLe.Has Good Feel And Has A Mode Button To Switch Between Movement With The D-Pad And The Left Thumb Stick.I Find That Useful.The Only Downside To These Pads Are They Are Not Durable In The Long Run.They Last About 3-6 Months Depending What Button Mashers You Play.Button 1 And Down Seems To Always Wear Out.Ive Went Through About 6 Logictech Pads Over The Last 3 Years.they last longer now because i use autofire (offline) to preserve button wear.now i buy 2 when i go to radio shack.they're cheap.cost around $24.99.The XBOX 360 is a good pad.had it since 2006.good durability and control.Downside is that there is no mode button to switch between the D-Pad and the thumbstick.you'd have to hit tab and configure that because mame automaticly uses the thumbstick.360 pad will last you years. BTW I Don't press button 5 on keyboard to add coins and 1 to start anymore. I Custom the buttons in the tab selection to where i can add coins with the select button and start with start button all on the gamepad.i save with L2 And Load The Game R2.Because In The Heat Of The Moment i dont have time to reach for the keyboard

I have the logitech you mentioned, with the features to switch between thumb pad and analog. Mines is a Dark Navy Blue. Dunno if they come in any other colors though.

I just ordered some sega saturn looking ones that connect via usb. They aren't here yet but now that I read this I kind of regret not getting ones with more buttons for the coin and start. Oh well, it was just $15 for the two of them shipped, hopefully they work and are fun to play with.

I use kb the original SONNNNNN...only weak ppl use pad and controllers cuz they give up when they first played on keyboard cuz it was to diffucult for them but i strong and i dont give up so GGED

here is mine, it seems to play really well so far.

There are L and R buttons on the top that I use for coin and start, the only thing is that they are pink. So is the start button in the middle, even though it doesn't look like it in the picture.

It'll be fine though, it's a lot better than trying to use the keyboard.

I heard the d-pad on that controller falls off quickly.

It does feel cheap and it was but I don't play that much so hopefully not for a while if at all. I just started playing, if I like it and I need a better controller I'll get one but this is getting it done for now.

That pad is great for mvc as well. Unfortanatly the d-pad falls off that too within a year.

if i was to get one what would you guys say i should get. Should i go with 360 or just get normal pad or maybe even a joystick.

For fighters I recommend saitek or arcade stick. For anything else a usb psx pad will do.

USB Psx Pad works well for most fighters.. If you can get your hands on one, The old psx arc stick holds up.

I still use mine.

my logitech and keyboard are still holding up well. But on my wishlist for usb controllers is the hard to find PS2/PS3 one. The pad is ok, but the analog feels nice and loose, it's great.

Keyboard

i use a logitech dual action controller. i like the feel to it seince i game a lot of playstaton

lol I switch it up depending on the Game!
I use the Original XBox Controller. Lol, had to do some soldering and XBCD for that to work...

the odd thing i do is use the Controller and keyboard at the same time when playing fighting games.
Since I'm used to the 6 button arcade style, I map my NUM PAD to the attack buttons.
NUM 7, 8, 9 = Button 1, 2, 3
NUM 4, 5, 6 = Button 4. 5, 6

I use the directional pad on the controller to move around while using the KB for attacking.

Works great untill I finally buy an arcade stick set-up.
